Northern Ireland Travel

Northern Ireland have been drawn in Group C and to help fans with their travel plans, we have put some information together for each of the destinations. We realise that flight prices do increase with demand but please be aware that it isn’t advisable to book travel until the venue for the matches have been confirmed.

Italy
Italy have always played their home international matches at various venues all over the country. Until the venue is confirmed, it is difficult to give any travel advice. Where ever the game is played, there are good links to Italy from all parts of the UK.

Serbia
Serbia play their home matches at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade which has a capacity of over 55,000. There are no direct flights to Belgrade from Belfast but plenty of airlines offer connections via other European cities. A wide range of hotels are available in Belgrade and can be booked online.

Slovenia
Slovenia play their home matches at the Ljudski vrt Stadion in Maribor in the north of the country. Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia after the capital, Ljubljana some 80 miles away. However, there are other airports that supporters could also consider flying to:
- Ljubljana (80 miles)
- Graz, Austria (50 miles)
- Klagenfurt, Austria (80 miles)
- Zagreb, Croatia (70 miles)

Estonia
Tallinn will be the destination for Northern Ireland fans when their team play Estonia. There is plenty of accommodation available in Tallinn which can be booked online. The most direct flight option is from Dublin with Estonian Air or Air Baltic. Alternatively, there are numerous options connect through other European cities. Another option for supporters is to fly to Helsinki in Finland and take the ferry across to Tallinn. There are several crossings every day which take around 2 hours (http://www.directferries.co.uk/helsinki_tallinn_ferry.htm).

Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands is one of the most remote destinations within UEFA. They play their home matches at Torshavn in the Torsvollur Stadium which has a capacity of 6,000. Accommodation in Torshavn can be booked online and flights to the Faroe Islands are operated by Atlantic Airways (don’t get it confused with Atlantic Airlines) and operate flights from London, Birmingham, Manchester and Aberdeen. However, the flights may be seasonal and prices are very high.
