Platini pleased with Kharkiv’s preparations for Euro 2012
ByUEFA President Michel Platini has said he is satisfied with the progress of the preparation of Kharkiv for hosting matches of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.
“I think that the situation in Kharkiv is good. Everything is under control,” he told journalists in Kharkiv on Thursday.
According to Platini, there are scarcely any problems in the city. “There is a stadium, a hotel; a new airport is being actively prepared. A lot has been done there,” he said.
The UEFA president said Kharkiv residents, as well as residents of Donetsk, are very enthusiastic about holding the tournament in their cities.
When asked by journalists to compare the stadiums in Donetsk and Kharkiv, Platini said that both the stadiums are “beautiful and good.”
At the same time, he added that it is improper to compare the level of preparation in different cities, as the level of development of separate areas of the municipal economy vary from city to city.
“Kharkiv is doing well. There is much still to be done,” the UEFA president said.
